OBITUARIES:  (published June 6, 2019)

Emma Mae Whitten
  
Emma Mae Whitten, 71, of Hinsdale passed away June 2, 2019, surrounded by family.
   Emma was an avid reader who made the most of her library membership. Other hobbies included traveling to tropical places, going to the theater and shopping at the mall. Nothing gave her more joy than to spend time with friends and family.
   She is survived by her daughter, Sonya (Kenneth Hook); her five grandsons, Justin (April) Hook, Tobin Hook, Tyler Hook, Trevor Hook and Trenton Hook; her sister, Rosetta Young; and many nieces and nephews.
   A funeral service was held June 5 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hinsdale.
   Interment was at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Stickney. Sullivan Funeral Home in Hinsdale handled the arrangements.

Anna M. Zelisko
  
Anna M. Zelisko, 95, passed away June 1, 2019, at her Hinsdale home with family members by her side.
   Anna was born in 1924 to John and Mary Krafcisin, née Perun. She was a faithful and lifelong member of Nativity B.V.M. Ukrainian/Byzantine Catholic Church in Palos Park. Her life was centered around her family and her church community.
   Anna was a true Chicago South-sider. She grew up and lived in The Back of the Yards, Cornell Park, Gage Park and Beverly. Anna attended Fulton Grade School, Lindblom High School, The University of Chicago and St. Xavier College.
   Her interest in gardening enabled her to become a member of the Hinsdale Garden Club and Master Flower Judge.
   Anna is survived by her sons, Paul (Judy), Mark (Julie) and John (Linda); her daughter, Karen (Michael); her grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Zelisko; her sister, Mary (Mame) Krafcisin; and her brothers, John Krafcisin and Michael Krafcisin.
   The family extends special thanks to Sophie, Anna’s long time care-giver; to Rica, who was so helpful in Anna’s last days; and to Residential Hospice for their excellent and compassionate hospice care.
   A viewing will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 7, at the Hills Funeral Home, 10201 S. Roberts Road, Palos Hills, with a memorial Panachida at 7 p.m. A viewing also will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at Nativity B.V.M. Church, 8530 W. 131 Street, Palos Park. The funeral service will follow at the church at 10:30 a.m.
   Interment is at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Evergreen Park.
