OBITUARIES:  (published July 26, 2018)

Josephine Allen
Josephine Allen, nee Puschnig, passed away peacefully at her Clarendon Hills home, surrounded by loved ones, on July 22, 2018, after a courageous battle against lung cancer.
   She was born in 1937 in Chicago, the youngest child, and looked up to her brothers for everything. In August 1955, she married Leon, the love of her life. Together they welcomed three daughters into their home and taught them about life, compassion, hard work, ethics, love and what it means to be a family. Her children remember her as a generous, compassionate, sympathetic, good-hearted and determined women.  Throughout the years she watched her children grow and start their own lives and she gained the title grandma. Her granddaughter remembers her willingness to listen, her patience and her unconditional love.
   Along with spending time with her family and friends, Josephine enjoyed going to plays, traveling around the world, gardening, working puzzles, playing bingo and pinochle.  She worked many years for the village of Hinsdale, the Hinsdale Police Department and as an event planner for Katherine Legge Memorial Lodge. Josie touched many lives in her 80 years.    She will be remembered for her boundless compassion, willingness to support others, high energy, and devotion to family and friends.
   She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Lee “Leon” Allen; her brothers, Ted, Frank, Edward, Henry and “Banj” Puschnig; her sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Lucy; her nephew, Eddie Puschnig; and her parents, Frank and Josephine Puschnig.
   She is survived by her children, Betty (Greg) Dedic, Laurie (Jim) Moore and Cindy Allen; her granddaughter, Samantha Dedic; her nieces, Linda Goodspeed and Sandra Puschnig; her nephew, Frank Puschnig; and many great-nieces and -nephews.
   Visitation is at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at St. Irene Catholic Church, 28 W. 441 Warrenville Road, Warrenville. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m., with Father James Antiporek presiding at the ceremony.
   Burial will follow the funeral at Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago.

Joseph Anthony Perrino
Joseph Anthony Perrino, 64, of Oak Brook and Jupiter, Fla., died July 19, 2018, in West Palm Beach, Fla.
   He was born in 1953 in Chicago.
   Joe will be missed by his loving family, friends, colleagues and his puppy, Holly.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicola and Loretta Perrino.
   He is survived by his wife, Kathleen S. Perrino, nee Westergaard; his children, Gina (Sean) Bolger, Nick (Christina) Perrino and Renee (Paul) Storie; his grandchildren, Lexi, Sammie and Seany Bolger, Joey, Mikey, Lily and Anthony Perrino, and Logan Storie; his sisters, Lucretia (Dan) Costello and Marilyn (John) Carlson; and many nieces and nephews.
   A funeral Mass will be said at 10:30 today, July 26, at Notre Dame Church, 64 Norfolk Ave., Clarendon Hills.
   Entombment will be private at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

   Sullivan Funeral Home in Hinsdale handled the arrangements.

Barbara A. Serpe
Barbara A. Serpe, nee Hill, 82, of Burr Ridge, died July 21, 2018.
Barb loved spending time with her family and was an especially devoted “nana” to her grandchildren.
   Always happy to volunteer, whether at her church or children’s schools, the Ronald McDonald House near Comer Children’s Hospital at the University of Chicago held a special place in her heart.
   She is survived by her husband, Ronald J. Serpe; her children, Jo Ann (Chip) Wickens, Ronald (Lyndsay) Serpe and Toni Gentleman of Hinsdale; her grandchildren, Connor and Erin Wickens, Maxwell and Jasper Serpe, and Jack and Michael Gentleman. 
   A memorial Mass was said July 24 at St. James at Sag Bridge Church in Lemont.
   Interment was private.
   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House near Comer Children’s Hospital, 5444 S. Drexel Avenue, Chicago, IL 60615 or online at (indicate RMH near UCCCH).
