Laurance J. Meyer
  
Laurance J. Meyer, 88, of Downers Grove died Sept. 23, 2018.
   Laurance received his undergraduate degree and a law degree from University of Iowa. He served during the Korean War.  He was a member of Downers Grove Jaycees, and served as president of the Downers Grove school board and the Good Samaritan Club. He also was an Iowa Law School Foundation trustee, a Family Service of DuPage County board member and a Downers Grove plan commissioner. Laurance and his wife established the Laurance and Joan Meyer Merit Scholarship Fund for Iowa Law students. Laurance was a retired partner from Arthur Andersen and Co.
   He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan E. Meyer, nee Bresnahan; and his grandson, Thomas Orler.
   He is survived by his children, Gregory (Karen) Meyer, Patricia (Victor) Orler and John (Kristen) Meyer; his grandchildren, Michelle and Chris Meyer, Victor, Holden (Tierney) and Cooper Orler; and Teagan, Ryan and Brendan Meyer.
   Family and Friends will meet for a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. today, Sept. 27, at St. Joseph Church, 4801 Main St., Downers Grove. 
   Interment will be private.
   Memorials may be made online to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.

Jay Oliverio
  
Jay Oliverio, nee Pardo, 87, of Burr Ridge, died Sept. 24, 2018.
   She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Joseph J. Oliverio. on Sept. 17; and her brother, Mario (Dolly) Pardo.
   She is survived by her children, John (Diane) Oliverio, Carl (Marian) Oliverio, Rick (Claire) Oliverio and Joseph (Doreen) Oliverio; dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Camille (Nick) Derango, Pat “Pepper” (Margaret) Pardo, Charles Pardo, Annette (Frank) Schmidt, Rose (John) Sprovieri and Mary Pardo.
   A funeral Mass was said Sept. 26 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Clarendon Hills.
   Entombment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery Christ The King Mausoleum. in Hillside.
   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Association for Down Syndrome, 1460 Renaissance Drive, Suite 102; Park Ridge, IL 60068
   Adolf Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Willowbrook handled the arrangements.

Joseph J. Oliverio
  
Joseph J. Oliverio, 88, of Burr Ridge died Sept. 17, 2018, in Westmont.
   A veteran of U.S. Army (sergeant first class), he served in the Korean War.
   His wife of 67 years, Jay Oliverio, nee: Pardo, died a week after him on Sept. 24.
   He is survived by his children, John (Diane) Oliverio, Carl (Marian) Oliverio, Rick (Claire) Oliverio and Joseph (Doreen) Oliverio; dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings, Catherine (the late Tom) Reynolds, Rosemary Maloney, Dolores (the late John) Yakitis and Agnes (Joseph) Pace; and many nieces and nephews.
   A funeral Mass was said Sept. 20 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Clarendon Hills.
   Entombment was Queen of Heaven Cemetery Christ The King Mausoleum.
   Adolf Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Willowbrook handled the arrangements.

Katherine "Karen" Sokol
  
Katherine “Karen” Sokol of Burr Ridge died Sept. 24, 2018, at Amita Adventist Medical Center Hinsdale.
   She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard O’Leary; and her brother, James Kearns.
   She is survived by her husband, James M. Sokol; her children, Leslie (David) Malay and Julie (James) O’Day; her grandchildren, Christopher and Charles Malay and Andrew, Keegan and Patrick O’Day; her brother, Dennis (Jane); and her nephew, Mack Kearns.
   Visitation is from 8:45 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at St. John of Cross Church, 5005 S. Wolf Road, Western Springs
   A funeral Mass will follow at the church at 9:45 a.m.
   Interment will be at Bronswood Cemetery in Oak Brook. Memorials may be made online to the Misericordia Heart of Mercy Home at misericordia.com.
   Sullivan Funeral Home in Hinsdale handled the arrangements.
