Dorothy R. Chianelli
  
Dorothy R. Chianelli, nee Staffel, 89, of Burr Ridge, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Oct. 22, 2017, in Downers Grove.
   She was born in 1928 in Green Bay, Wis., to Henry and Catherine Staffel. Dorothy was longtime member of the Illinois Thoroughbred Industry.
   She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Chianelli; and her great-granddaughter, Nicole Chianelli.
   She is survived by her sons, Ed (Margaret) and Gerald (Debra); her grandchildren, Gerald (Pamela) Chianelli, Thomas (Susan) Chianelli and Christine (Phil) Kosanovich; and her great-grandchildren, Gia and Zak Kosanovich and Lauren and Dylan Chianelli.
   Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Sullivan Funeral Home, 60 S. Grant St. Hinsdale.
   A service will follow at the funeral home at noon.
   Interment is private. 
   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity started by Dorothy’s father Henry in 1962: Pilot Dogs Inc., 625 West Town St., Columbus, OH 43215-4496 or online at pilotdogs.org.

Jerome A. Hart
  
Jerome A. Hart, 84, formerly of Oak Brook, died Oct. 22, 2017, in Burr Ridge.
   He was born in 1933 in Fort Wayne, Ind.
   He is survived by his wife, Sara Ann Hart, nee Schmid; his children, Leo (Suzanne) Hart, Andrew (Anita) Hart, Samuel (Jennifer) Hart and Alexander Hart; and his grandchildren, Alec, Megan, Nicole (David) Jackson, Kyle, Amanda, Gabrielle, Grace, Julia, Paige, Hailey, Lily and Charles Hart.
   Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at Sullivan Funeral Home, 60 S. Grant St., Hinsdale
   Interment is private.
   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made online to Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org.

Dorothy C. Johnson
  
Dorothy C. Johnson, nee Jackson, 86, of Hinsdale died Oct. 21, 2017, at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
   She was born in 1931 in New Orleans.
   She was preceded in death by her siblings, Arnold and Aaron.
   She is survived by her daughter, Theresa (Seymour Wasserstrum) Johnson-Wasserstrum; her siblings, Emanuel, Armand, Xavier, Addie and Mildred; her nephew, Jerome Jackson; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
   Visitation is from 3 to 8 today, Oct. 26, at Sullivan Funeral Home, 60 S. Grant St., Hinsdale. A eulogy service will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
   Friends and family will meet at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at the funeral home before proceeding to St. Isaac Jogues Church, 306 W. Fourth St., Hinsdale, for a 10 a.m. Mass.
   Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
   The family requests that no flowers be sent.

Mary Frances Nowak
  
Mary Frances Nowak of Tahoe City, Calif., formerly of Hinsdale, passed away Oct. 7, 2017.
   Mary Frances, 61, was born in Chicago in 1956 to Edward and Genie Nowak. The family moved to Hinsdale in 1958, where Mary Frances attended St. Isaac Jogues elementary school. She graduated from  Nazareth Academy High School in LaGrange Park.
   She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Nowak. 
   She is survived by her mother, Genie Nowak; her sisters, Catherine Blattner, Anne (Russ) LaBarge; her brother, Marty; and her longtime partner, Jim Gamble. 
   A private celebration of her life will be held in Tahoe City.

Larry L. Pendexter
  
Larry L. Pendexter, 68, of Westmont, formerly of Hinsdale, passed away Oct. 21, 2017, at Amita Medical Center in Hinsdale with his family by his side.
   He was born in 1948 in Bath, Maine.
   Larry was a Vietnam War veteran and a retired commercial architect.
   He was preceded in death by his siblings, Annette and Donnie Pendexter.
   He is survived by his wife, Wendy; his children, Lisa, Rebeccah and Timothy; his grandchildren; and his sisters, Faith Capporiccio and Linda Hadley-Rood.
   A funeral service was held Oct. 25 at Evangelical Covenant Church in Hinsdale.
Memorials may be made to Evangelical Covenant Church, 412 S. Garfield Ave., Hinsdale, IL 60521.
   Brian Powell Funeral Directors handled the arrangements.

Anne Kolze Smallwood
  
Anne Kolze Smallwood, 97, passed away peacefully Oct. 22, 2017, with her loving family by her side at her home in Hinsdale.
   She was born in 1920 in Bensenville to Henry and Lena Kolze.
   Anne was a longtime resident of Hinsdale, a founding member of the Hinsdale United Methodist Church and a proud member of the P.E.O., where she held numerous roles. She was active in the Hinsdale Women’s Club and was an avid bridge player and traveler.
   She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Walter Smallwood; and her sister, Irma H. Butler.
   She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Lowenthal; her grandson, Thomas (Teri Jo) Lowenthal; her great-grandson, Ori Lowenthal; and many nieces and nephews.
   A celebration of Anne’s life will be held at a future date at the Hinsdale United Methodist Church.
   Memorials may be made to the Hinsdale United Methodist Church, 945 S. Garfield Ave., Hinsdale, IL 60521.
   Sullivan Funeral Home in Hinsdale handled the arrangements.
