I am fortunate to have met many delightful members of our community at Hinsdale Public Library's front desk. Mr. S. was an avid reader. He had a positive, robust energy that was, on every meeting, infectious. He visited the library just about weekly and we always loved seeing him. I have a thing for books. Always have. Maybe it began with "Pat the Bunny," "The Story of Ferdinand" or "The Snowy Day." Perhaps it was when I attended my first library storytime. The cover of the book was bumpy and grainy. A closer look revealed grains of sand. I smiled and ran a hand over the surface, imagining the reader laying the book on a beach towel, somewhere warm, while sand gathered at the edges and found its way under the cellophane cover. When items leave the Hinsdale Public Library, especially in summer, we consider their travel plans. Items collected for car trips will be on a journey to visit family, National Parks or historic sites....
