    The Lane School held its first Veterans Day program since 2019 last week. Madeline Maloney scans the audience for her family before the event starts.   • The Lane opens its doors to salute veterans

    Students at The Lane school, along with their parents, gathered Friday morning to celebrate Veterans Day. The program began with a flag ceremony before school and concluded with a concert dedicated to the veterans who joined in the event. Griffin Jaris, Lila Danek, Poppy Pickles, Madeline Hendy and Charlotte Nabavian - along with the entire kindergarten and first grade classes - sang "America" to open the event.     Fall MAP scores show students in Community Consolidated Elementary District 181 are high-achievers and, in almost all cases, showing more growth than their peers. “Some school districts only focus on achievement,” Superintendent Hector Garcia said. “We’re very proud of achievement but also focusing on student growth.” Districtwide, 72.1 percent of students met or exceeded the 69th percentile benchmark, while 79.2 did so in math.     The DuPage County Health Department reported no new cases of COVID-19 in Hinsdale over the past week, keeping the total number of cases in the DuPage County portion of Hinsdale at 4,271. The Cook County Health Department no longer reports on cases specific to Hinsdale. The number of cases per 100,000 population in DuPage was 13.3 on Nov. 16, compared to 14.8 on Nov. 9.
