    Ken Knutson|Updated May 20, 2022

What is the Crisis Text Line? Young people might not always be comfortable sharing their inner struggles with a parent, school counselor or coach. That is where the Crisis Text Line comes in. Adolescents simply text HOME to 741741 from anywhere in the U.S., 24 hours a day. • Wind, rain, sun, buses and a ship - along with a dinosaur or two - made it a great evening to be a Red Devil at prom

    Updated May 4, 2022

Minutes before students were about to gather for prom, sirens signaling a tornado warning went off, forcing organizers into the hallways at Hinsdale Central. Then the skies opened up with a heavy downpour. A few minutes later, the sun broke through the clouds and the 670 prom-goers began to gather at the school. With construction and COVID-19 concerns, organizers opted out of the annual red carpet gathering before students boarded buses to head down to the Field Museum. Post p...

  • Board opposed to 15 early release days

    Pamela Lannom|Updated May 4, 2022

Fifteen early release Wednesdays for the 2022-23 school year would be too many, according to Hinsdale High School District 86 Board members, who asked instead to see a plan with no more than 12. Administrators came to the board in March with a plan to have students released early almost every Wednesday, which was not well-received, and then cut that number to 15. • Immanuel Hall was built from the soul

    Updated May 4, 2022

In the late 19th-century, the west side of Hinsdale was home to an enclave of German immigrants. In 1898, weary of the distance and at odds with the church's new pastor, several decided to establish their own congregation. They called upon Brookfield pastor Rev. Carl Luedeke to lead the new...
