You’ve come a long way — The Hinsdale Humane Society has roots back to 1953 when six Hinsdale women were not happy with the condition of the local dog pound. The “shack” had no hot water, a single light hanging from the ceiling and was in general disreapair. In 1958 the society built a new dog pound at a cost of $25,000. That’s a far cry today’s multi-million dollar facility, which offers the finest of care and shelter for its guests. (Hinsdale Historical Society photo)...

Back in the day - This photo of the northwest corner of First and Washington streets was taken in 1966. The central business district has come a long way under the care of the public works department and the village. The trees and flowers that have been added over the years are a much better reflection of the village's character. Do you have a Hinsdale photo that is at least 25 years old? On their honor - Back in the 1940s, Girl and Boy Scouts from across town gathered on the steps of the Memorial Building. A four-legged Troop member snuck in the photo as well. We're confident that it would take a lot more room to capture all of today's Scouts in a group photo. Do you have a Hinsdale photo that is at least 25 years old? The fabulous '50s - A shot from the 1950s shows the Memorial Building looking much different than it does today. With the village offices now on the east side and the Hinsdale Public Library on the west side, the building has grown. And while the parking doesn't appear to have changed, the line up of classic cars has. Do you have a Hinsdale photo that is at least 25 years old? We'd love to share it with our readers.
