Richard A. Heidecke Jr., 70, passed away July 15, 2019, with his wife and sons by his side.
He was born in 1949 to Richard Heidecke Sr. and Laura Heidecke, nee Perrelli. He graduated from Loyola University Chicago, then John Marshall Law School, where he was first in his class, on law review and a two-time winner of his National Law Fraternity (Tau Epsilon Rho) Essay Contest. He became a lawyer in 1974 and established Heidecke Law Offices. He loved his job because he loved helping people. He taught two law courses at the College of DuPage for a few years. He was a member of the DuPage County Bar Association, a founding father of Westmont Rotary and a Paul Harris Fellow.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie; and his mother, Laura Heidecke.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Debra C. Heidecke, nee Svitak; his children, Rich (Amanda) and Mark (Schweta); his grandchildren, Mia, Brianna and Rayden; his siblings, Ken Von Heidecke, Lynn (Lou) DeRose, Steve Heidecke, Laurie Heidecke, Michael Heidecke and Susan (Bryan) Ocasio.
A funeral Mass was said July 20 at St. Mary of Gostyn Church in Downers Grove.
Interment was at Bronswood Cemetery in Oak Brook.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Julie K. Heidecke Tribute Awards Foundation.
Sullivan Funeral Home in Hinsdale handled the arrangements.
