Hinsdale High School District 86 board
Among other business July 25, board members:
• approved a two-year contract with Christopher Jasculca to serve as district communications director beginning Aug. 12 at an annual salary of $135,000.
Jasculca spent the last 10 years in Oak Park Elementary District 97, where he was the senior director of policy, planning and communication.
“It was an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up,” he said. “I’m very pleased and proud to be part of this district.”
He replaces Karen Warner, who resigned to take a position in Township High School District 113 in Highland Park/Deerfield, where former D86 Superintendent Bruce Law is the new senior administrator.
• learned that all but one district teaching position has been filled for the 2019-20 school year. Domenico Maniscalco, chief human resources officer, said he will bring a recommendation for the final vacancy (at Hinsdale South) to the Aug. 8 board meeting.
• listened as board member Erik Held apologized to his fellow board members and the community for posting a letter he received on social media.
“It was a mistake to make that post for a variety of reasons,” he said. The board plans to draft a new policy regarding the use of social media.
• learned that Kevin Simpson, district security director, will report on school safety matters at the Aug. 8 meeting
