D181 EARNS FINANCE REPORTING AWARD
Community Consolidated Elementary District 181 was awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the International Association of School Business Officials.
For 16 years the district has received the award for meeting ASBO’s program of high standards for financial reporting and accountability in preparing its comprehensive annual financial report.
“The CAFR is an important communications tool for building trust and engaging with the school community as well as communicating the district’s financial status to all constituents,” said District 181 Chief Financial Officer Mohsin Dada.
By participating in the program, school districts demonstrate their commitment to financial transparency, according to ASBO. Applicants submit their CAFR for review by a team of professional auditors, who provide feedback to improve future documents. If the CAFR meets the requirements of the program, the document may be eligible to receive the certificate of excellence. A district’s participation in the program can facilitate bond rating and continuing bond disclosure processes.
MAZZOCHI APPOINTED TO COUNCIL
State Rep. Deanne Mazzochi (R-47, Elmhurst) recently was tasked to advise the Illinois Department of Public Health on the latest research, diagnosis, treatment options and education options involving children suffering from pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcal infections.
Mazzochi’s addition to the bipartisan PANDAS panel adds her in-depth knowledge of various drugs used to target autoimmune diseases. Mazzochi has considerable familiarity with the health risks associated with bacterial infections and was the chief legislative sponsor of House Bill 3264, designed to reduce the incidence and risk of staphylococcal and MRSA infections amongst patients during hospital stays.
“Streptococcal bacterial infections, which cause strep throat, are incredibly common in children,” she said. “They can trigger horrible responses without correct and timely treatment. One of them are PANDAs, which result when the staph bacteria covers itself with proteins that mimics the shape of ones in your own body and tricks your immune system into targeting your body’s healthy cells.
“It can be very difficult for doctors and families to get the right diagnosis for children suffering from PANDAs,” she added. “I look forward to identifying ways to improve our children’s clinical outcomes and identifying legislation needed to put those goals into practice.”
The legislature formed the PANDAS advisory council after a DuPage County family struggled with securing proper access to the medicine and treatments they needed to help their suffering child, she said.
HINSDALEAN’S FIRM ON AWARD LIST
Core-Rx Communications, a female-owned and led company founded in 2010 by Shana Robinson of Hinsdale, has been named a MM&M Award finalist for Small Healthcare Agency of the Year. The MM&M Awards are the healthcare marketing industry’s premier annual awards program, celebrating creativity and effectiveness in the industry.
Core-Rx Communications is a thriving full-service healthcare marketing agency specializing in healthcare advertising, strategy, education and events. Robinson has grown the agency from a two-person shop out of a spare bedroom to more than 10 full-time employees and a sleek office in Oak Brook.
“As a female-led company, we work hard to maintain a culture of respect and empowerment,” Robinson said. “What makes our agency so special is the passion, creativity and commitment that each person brings to the table.”
Three other industry veterans round out Robinson’s leadership team and include Tamera Snyder, Hinsdale’s Margaret Berg, PhD., and Molly Lane.
“When I founded this company, I was driven by a desire to improve transparency and collaboration in agency-client relationships,” Robinson said. “By prioritizing trust and partnership, many of the clients obtained in our first few years of operation remain loyal partners nine years later.”
It was a good year for the Core-Rx Communications as staffers were hard at work launching a new US dermatology cosmeceutical product. Other notable work included a complete rebrand of a product to treat hemophilia and pro bono work for Hinsdale-based Wellness House.
The award submission included a video, questionnaire, case studies, client testimonials and sample client work. At judging, which took place on June 24, all entries were reviewed, discussed and scored by MM&M’s panel of elite judges.
The agency will head to New York City on Oct. 10 for the award ceremony.
