You’ve come a long way — The Hinsdale Humane Society has roots back to 1953
when six Hinsdale women were not happy with the condition of the local dog
pound. The “shack” had no hot water, a single light hanging from the ceiling and
was in general disreapair. In 1958 the society built a new dog pound at a cost of
$25,000. That’s a far cry today’s multi-million dollar facility, which offers the finest
of care and shelter for its guests. (Hinsdale Historical Society photo)
