Bill Carlson, 81, died Aug. 14, 2019.
Bill was a Navy man and a veteran. He was an avid golfer and Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed pheasant and duck hunting, especially when he went with his son and grandson. Bill cherished his friends whether they were from childhood or newly acquired.
Bill, a native of Hinsdale, is a 1956 graduate of Hinsdale Township High School and a 1960 graduate of the University of Illinois.
For many years prior to his move to Florida he was a member of Edgewood Valley Country Club, where he found many friends. He also sang with the Jolly Boys Mens Glee Club and attended Hinsdale Covenant Church. Those memberships brought him great joy.
In Florida, he became active in the Hobe Sound Community Presbyterian Church, where he gained a marvelous faith family of new friends and founded a men’s group. Bill had strong faith, and that helped him and his family get through his illness. He was known to always have a smile, and made all he met feel comfortable and welcomed in his presence.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Gloria; his two children, Roger (Carol) and June (Jim) Parrilli; his five grandchildren, Leigh (Tim) Harris, Troy Carlson and Natalie, Colette and Margot Parrilli; his brother, Linne; his nieces, Lisa, Lynn, Sabrina, Lauren and Elizabeth; and his nephews, Bruce Jr., Linne Jr., Patrick, Larry and Daniel.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Hinsdale Covenant Church, 412 S. Garfield Ave.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hobe Sound Community Presbyterian Church, 11933 SE Juno Crescent, Hobe Sound, FL 33455.
