A survey soon will be posted online regarding the reconstruction and/or relocation of the pedestrian bridge over Interstate 294 linking Hinsdale and Western Springs.
The walkway, located at Minneola Street on the village’s north end, will be torn down as part of the Illinois Tollway Authority’s widening of the Central Tri-State Tollway. The location options for a replacement bridge are at its current site or at Veeck Park to the south, to connect with Spring Rock Park in Western Springs.
“We have planned on putting a billboard (displaying renderings) up at both locations,” Brad Bloom, assistant village manager and director of public safety, told trustees at Tuesday’s Hinsdale Village Board meeting.
Western Springs trustees reportedly have expressed unanimous support for keeping the bridge where it is, providing easy access to Starbucks and Whole Foods.
All residents are encouraged to register their opinions.
“We should have (the survey) on our website by the end of the week,” Bloom said.
