Karen Marie Kindt, 59, of Clarendon Hills, formerly of Hinsdale, passed away Dec. 18, 2019.
She was born in 1960 in South Bend, Ind. She strove to make everyone feel welcomed and admired through her natural friendliness, genuinely engaging in conversation with anyone she met. Her high energy and indomitable personality were apparent in her passion for her children, the outdoors, biking, walking, cross-country skiing and swimming. A lover of rescue animals, Karen devoted herself to helping all furry creatures.
Karen grew up in Deerfield and graduated from Deerfield High School. She earned a business/communications degree from Marquette University and jumped into the business world, achieving significant success early in her career working for Xerox and Comdisco. Karen ended her career with that same enthusiasm at RGP. It was her father's example that propelled Karen to professional and personal excellence.
After a serious biking injury in September 2018, Karen used her characteristic drive in her goal to regain the full function of her right leg. She was known and admired in her neighborhood, as she walked daily on her crutches, determined to do all she could to heal.
She was preceded in death by her father, Noel; and her sister, Kimberly.
She is survived by her children, Olivia and Reid Carter; her mother, Patricia; and her sister, Katherine Kindt.
A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at Katherine Legge Memorial Lodge, 5901 S. County Line Road, Hinsdale, with a memorial service at 3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made online to Hinsdale Humane Society at https://www.hinsdalehumanesociety.org/donate.
