William Giles Bush Sr. of Nancy, Ky., passed away peacefully Aug. 7, 2020, due to complications related to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Bill, 85, was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He loved his card and poker games and would tell stories of supporting himself playing pinochle as a student in college.
His re-enactments of hunting excursions using salt and pepper shakers and whatever else was available on the table to establish the positions of the hunters and the game were legendary.
He took full advantage of his senior status to improve his lies on the golf course, as well as taking generous gimme putts, establishing his form of "Grandpa Golf." He was a good friend to many, checking in on others and doing what he could to make their lives more enjoyable.
Bill will be sorely missed by extended family, friends at Beacon Hill in Lombard where he spent his last five years near his daughters, and by friends in Nancy, where he and Loraine enjoyed almost 30 years of retirement.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lola, nee Langley; and his wife of 61 years, Loraine Beresford Bush.
He is survived by his children, Vicky (Chuck) Bush-Joseph of Hinsdale, William G. (Denise) Bush Jr., Marie Bush and Michael (Mikki) Bush; his grandchildren, Rachel (Chris) Werner, William G. (Karla) Bush III, James (Jamie) Bush, Kathleen (Chris Moirano) Bush-Joseph, Samuel (Amber) Bush-Joseph and Jack Bush-Joseph; his six great grandchildren; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews on Loraine's side of the family.
Interment is private.
