Among other business at Monday’s meeting, board members:
• unanimously adopted a 2020 property tax levy of $67.1 million. Board members plan to abate a portion of residents’ taxes at their Feb. 8 meeting.
“Even though we’re adopting tonight, we will be giving money back in February,” said Rick Engstrom, assistant superintendent of business and operations.
• listened to a report on the Illinois School Report Cards, which are now posted on the district’s website at https://www.d181.org. Much of the data listed in the reports is not available, as spring assessment tests were not given due to the coronavirus pandemic.
• accepted a donation from the District 181 Foundation of $6,500 for a cultural empathy program and math assistance hotline pilot and $250 from Bijal Bhuva-Doshi for the HMS Media Resource Center
