Relatively small rise in COVID-19 case number

Thirty Hinsdale residents have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past week.

The DuPage County Health Department reported 24 new cases, and the Cook County Health Department reported six new cases.

That brings the total number of reported cases in the village to 1,261, up from 1,231 last week.

Amita Hinsdale Hospital was treating 12 confirmed COVID-19 patients and had four patients awaiting test results on Wednesday, a spokeswoman said.

Community Consolidated District 181 reported 10 new cases from Jan. 25 to Feb. 2, including eight students, one teacher and one staff member.

Hinsdale High School District 86 reported 12 current positive cases Jan. 29, with 65 people in isolation and 40 in quarantine.

The rolling seven-day positivity rate for Region 8, which includes DuPage County, was 6.4 percent on Saturday, compared to 7.5 percent a week prior.

Illinois is now in Phase 1b of its vaccination plan and has administered 1.03 million doses. The seven-day rolling average for vaccine administration is 44,139.
