Jerry and I support Margie Kleber for re-election to the D181 Board of Education for the two-year term. Margie has been our friend for more than 30 years. While being a first-grade teacher at The Lane, I (Lois) was fortunate to have three of her four children in my class.
Margie has served a full four-year term on the board and is currently the president. She previously served as the vice president, secretary and was chairman of the facilities committee. She promised to bring the $53 million HMS construction project under budget and on time, which, with her leadership, happened. She was tenacious in her goal.
With the challenges of COVID-19, Margie, along with the board, worked tirelessly to conduct meetings to inform our stakeholders of how the district could safely provide an in-person and remote learning model for our students. Her promise was that the plan must be sensible. The model had to protect our students, teachers and their families. The plan worked.
