COVID-19 rise in cases holding steady in town

Thirty-eight Hinsdale residents have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past week.

The DuPage County Health Department reported 29 new cases, and the Cook County Health Department reported nine new cases.

That brings the total number of reported cases in the village to 1,760, up from 1,722 last week.

Amita Hinsdale Hospital had seven confirmed COVID-19 patients and two patients awaiting test results on Wednesday, a spokesman said.

Community Consolidated District 181 reported seven new cases from April 28 to May 4, all of which involved students.

Hinsdale High School District 86 reported 13 current positive cases April 30, with 29 people in isolation and 123 in quarantine.

The rolling seven-day positivity rate for Region 8, which includes DuPage County, was 5.3 percent on Saturday, compared to 5.6 percent a week prior.

Illinois has administered about 12 million doses of vaccines. An average of about 72,600 vaccines are being administered daily, compared to about 106,000 last week. About 36 percent of DuPage County residents are fully vaccinated.
