The Hinsdale Fire Depart-ment, working with the Hinsdale Water Department, is testing village fire hydrants this summer and fall.
Residents are urged to slow down when approaching crews working around flowing fire hydrants and to be careful when approaching standing or flowing water.
If residents notice water discoloration during this process, they should run a faucet of cold water until it runs clear. This could take up to five minutes.
This testing is being performed in accordance with the Insurance Service Office and the National Fire Protection Association to ensure the available water supply for fire protection.
