Dorel Catarama, a Hinsdale resident for more than 30 years, passed away June 25, 2021, after a brief illness, at Amita Hinsdale Hospital with his closest family by his side.
Dorel, 70, was born in Romania. He was a well-known local custom home builder and a cherished husband, father, grandfather and brother. He had a passion for fixing anything broken, loved instilling this same passion in and playing with his grandchildren, and enjoyed traveling the world. Most importantly, he loved Jesus with all his heart.
He was preceded in death by his father, Valeriu; and his mother, Ileana, nee Lungu.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Veronica, nee Oana; his son, Dragos (Ramona); his grandchildren, Caiden and Cayla; his brother, Viorel; his sister, Mimi; and many nieces and nephews.
A viewing will take place at noon Thursday, July 1, at Hinsdale Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 201 N. Oak Street, Hinsdale. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the church.
Interment will follow at Bronswood Cemetery in Oak Brook. The funeral service will be livestreamed at https://www.powellfuneraldirectors.com.
