Mayme Saxer Andrews, 93, passed away Nov. 25, 2021.
Mayme was born and raised in Hinsdale. She was raised in the Lutheran church and was a lifelong member, serving on many committees and singing in the choir over many years.
Mayme and her husband, Jerry, raised their three children, Audrey, Karen and Scott, in Prospect Heights. In 1984, Mayme and Jerry retired to Hot Springs Village, Ark.
Mayme traveled to all 50 states, plus 37 countries and has been a Global Volunteer in Poland, Spain, China and Cook Island. She was an avid golfer, gardener, seamstress and family historian and an expert in calligraphy.
In 2013, Mayme moved to Brookdale Retirement Community in Glen Ellyn, to be close to her family. At Brookdale, Mayme enjoyed her friends, the staff and the Brookdale singing Meadowlarks.
She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, passion for education and travel, and unconditional love for her family.
Mayme was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, in 1985.
She is survived by her sister, Charlene Hassel; her two daughters, Audrey (John) McCombs and Karen (Ken) Busse; her son, Scott Andrews; her seven grandchildren; and her five great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 11, at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road, Wheaton.
A memorial service will follow at noon at the funeral home.
