David F. Shutack, 69, a longtime Hinsdale resident, passed away unexpectedly, March 7, 2022.
He was born in 1952 in Oak Park.
Dave was a free spirit and had fond memories of backpacking through Glacier National Park and exploring the Bahamas. He peppered conversations with jokes that ranged from the simple and silly to the irreverent and complex. A contemplative man who earned a master's in philosophy from the University of Chicago, he crafted clever messages for commercials during his career in advertising.
A lifelong Bears and Cubs buff, Dave was an even bigger fan of any team or endeavor his children pursued. He loved to travel and take his family on wonderful trips and his generosity knew no bounds. He adored his beloved pets, Harry and Wynne. His family appreciates the kindness and friendship of Wabi, Ray and Wassim.
He is survived by his children, Laura and Jack; his friend and former wife, Patsy; his step-siblings, Kate McDonnell, Molly Pelzer, Dan Duffy and Nora Duffy; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Peter and James; and his parents, John and Suzanne.
A time of remembrance was held March 16. Interment was private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls of Chicago, 1140 W Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607 or online at https://www.donate.mercyhome.org.
