Elizabeth J. Corcoran, 90, of Downers Grove, died peacefully on March 10, 2022. A former 45-year resident of Hinsdale, she raised her 10 children in the village.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Jac" Corcoran; her sons, Daniel and Timothy; her son-in-law, Eric Johnson; her sister, Mary Frances Steinhauser; and brother, John Vicik.
Surviving her are her children, William, Thomas, David (Evelyn), Jeffrey (Leslie), Catherine Johnson, Andrew, Kenneth and Abbie (Charles) Morrison; her grandchildren, Zoe, Patrick, Alice, Sean, Brady, Zach, Charles III, Haley, Devan, Courtney and Will; and great grandchildren, Willa Mae and Felix. She also leaves behind her sister, Susan Vicik Powell, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Beth was born in Elmhurst to Mary Nelson Underwood and Francis C. Underwood and attended Siena High School in Chicago. She met her future husband, a Fenwick student, while vacationing with her family at Devils Lake, Wis.
She followed Jac to the University of Iowa and enrolled in the nursing school. However, after marriage and two children she left the nursing program to devote her time to her young family. She later worked outside the home in various administrative capacities and as a special needs caregiver.
Beth was outgoing, and over the years she enjoyed keeping in contact with relatives, old friends, neighbors, friends of her children and former co-workers. She fondly remembered her years in the St. Isaac Jogues choir in the late 1960s, summer vacations with her family, travel with her husband, and witnessing the many milestones of her children and extended family, always with a smile and words of encouragement.
The family will hold a private memorial service.
