Glenn "Glenn Bob" Karnatz, 92, formerly of Hinsdale, passed away March 20, 2022.
Glenn was born in 1929 in Hinsdale to Robert and Elizabeth Karnatz. After graduating from Hinsdale Township High School, he joined the Armed Forces and served in the Illinois National Guard.
In 1959, he married the love of his life, Suzanne Hope Halverson. They lived in Hinsdale, where Glenn owned and operated his successful electrical contracting business, Karnatz Electric. They were blessed with three wonderful children and a life filled with love and laughter. Glenn was also an aviation enthusiast and loved nothing more than flying his family around the country on wonderful adventures. His love of aviation inspired his two sons, as both Kurt and Dean are airline pilots today.
In their retirement, Glenn and Suzi settled in Brevard, N.C., making their home in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains. Aside from spending time with his family, Glenn enjoyed chasing little white balls around the golf course community where he lived. He was a lifelong Lutheran and was very active in his church, faithfully serving the Lord. Glenn and his wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Glenn is preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Lampe.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Suzi; his three children, Kurt (Katherine), Dean (Laurel) and Kristin (Stratton) Karnatz Smith; and his seven grandchildren, Caroline, Carly, Cole, Matthew, Reese, Kap, and Tatum.
A celebration of life will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, at the Lutheran Church of The Good Shepard, 22 Fisher Road, Brevard, N.C. A reception will follow in Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the M.E.L.P Children's Youth Ministry through the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 22 Fisher Road, Brevard, NC 28712.
