Alfred F Kugel, 91, a 66-year resident of Hinsdale, passed away May 11, 2022.
He was a child prodigy, reading at 4 years old, graduating at the head of his classes and gathering scholarships to further his education. He was appointed a Baker Scholar as a student at the Harvard Business School.
He was a retired former partner in Stein Roe and Farnham, an investment counseling firm in Chicago. On retirement, he could actively pursue his hobby, philately, garnering many awards for his exhibits.
He also enjoyed traveling, visiting more than 200 countries with his wife.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy; two sons, Karl and Kris Allan; his son-in-law, Michael Peters; and his granddaughter, Brittany Peters.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathryn.
A memorial service is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Union Church, 137 S. Garfield Ave., Hinsdale.
