John Edward Scanlon, 91, of Clarendon Hills died Nov. 15, 2022.
His wife Marjorie was the love of his life and when she passed three weeks ago, he knew he needed to be with her. He loved spending summers in Door County with his grandchildren and children. He lived his whole life in the Chicago area and treasured his time growing up on the South Side.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Lee Scanlon, nee Murphy; and his daughter, Kerry Ann (Steven) Dufresne.
He is survived by his son, John (Maureen) Scanlon; his grandchildren, Clare (Matt) Lewitke, Jack, Michael, Joseph and Madeleine Scanlon, and Caitlin (Timothy Provost) McGowan, Meghan (Matt) Gill and Patricia (Brett Berngartt) McGowan; and his great-grandchildren, Landon, Grayson and Shea Gill, Kerry Berngartt, Liam McGowan, and Jacob and Olivia Lewitke.
Visitation is at 10 today, Nov. 17, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 64 Norfolk Ave. Clarendon Hills.
A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m.
Entombment is at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
