Mary Regina Kenna, 89, of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., formerly of Hinsdale, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Nov. 21, 2022, after a brief struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Mary was a gifted artist, earning a bachelor of fine arts from the Art Institute of Chicago and a master of fine arts from the University of Chicago. Her work was featured in shows in New York and Chicago as well at the Art Institute, Hyde Park Art Center and many others.
Mary held many positions outside of the fine arts world, including Peace Corps volunteer, college adjunct instructor of English, graphic designer and AIDS care volunteer. Later in life, Mary transitioned to health care and became a registered nurse, earning her bachelor of science in nursing from Rush University.
Mary is survived by her five children, Regina (Mckenzie), Regis (Carrie), Richard (Diane), Kathleen (Greg Schissler) and Matthew; her 13 grandchildren; and her five great-grandchildren.
No services were held at Mary’s request.
