Helene "Lorraine" Wolfe, nee Rosedale, 93, of Burr Ridge, formerly of Hinsdale, passed away Jan. 19, 2023.
Lorraine was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, in 1929 to Dr. Raymond and Helene Rosedale. She grew up in Canton, Ohio.
Lorraine met the love of her life, Jim Wolfe while she studied and graduated from Trinity University in Washington, D.C. They were married Dec. 29, 1951, in Canton. Lorraine continued onto Kent State University for advanced study in the field of audiology and speech therapy.
Lorraine and Jim raised their family in Clarendon Hills, Hinsdale and Oak Brook. Lorraine was a devoted mother while also being active in the church and her community. She taught CCD at St. Isaac Jogues as a young mom, served on the welcoming committee and was a Eucharistic minister and bereavement chaplain.
Lorraine served on the Hinsdale Assembly Board for many years and was active in Catholic Charities, The Cancer Institute at Rush, the Service Club, the Hinsdale Auxiliary Board, Big Shoulders, Hinsdale Village Gardeners and the Collectors Club. She served on Hinsdale Bank and Trust's board and was a longtime member at Hinsdale Golf Club.
Lorraine was a wonderful partner with Jim as he pursued a successful career in the railroad industry. She was a hostess and organizer for receptions, conferences, black tie events and company functions.
A founding member of Wellness House in Hinsdale following Jim's death in 1988, she served on the board for many years.
As active as Lorraine was, her family was her greatest pride and joy. She was surrounded by grandchildren and great-grandchildren daily with visits and phone calls. She was happy to give advice and kept confidences with all of them.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her two granddaughters, Keely and Moira Creber; and her siblings, Dr. Raymond Rosedale Jr. and Yvonne Rosedale.
She is survived by her children, Yvonne (Mike) Jones, Mary (Vic) Babel, Theresa (Jon) Henderson, Jim (Nancy) Wolfe, Michaela (John) Creber, Kathleen (Bill) Ruesch and Lorrie (George) Marks; her grandchildren, Brian (Kathryn) Bazar, Matthew (Carrie) Bazar, Adam (Shawna) Bazar, Michael (Jen) Viano, James (Jenny) Viano, Jorie (Bill) Toce, Robbie Viano, Eric (Ha My Vu) Henderson, Kyle (Ali) Henderson, Garrett (Monica) Henderson, Alec Henderson, James (Caroline) Wolfe, Katarina Wolfe, Robbie Siegfried, Annalise Wolfe, Gunner Wolfe, Rutger Wolfe, Chloe (Dan) Dwyer, Thatcher Creber, James Creber, Emma Ruesch, Charlotte Ruesch, Grace Ruesch, John Marks, Hope Marks, Charlie Marks and Lily Marks; her great-grandchildren, Wolfe, Bleu, Belle, Max, Hank, Billy, Teddy and Ava Bazar, Maggie, Patrick, Tessa, Gigi, Katie, and James Viano, Rosie and Mae Toce, Tyler and Maia Henderson and Annie Dwyer; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was held Jan. 24 at St. John of the Cross Church in Western Springs. Interment was private at Bronswood Cemetery in Oak Brook.
