The District 86 Board of Education, administration and Hinsdale High School Teachers Association announced Friday that they had reached a tentative agreement on a new teacher contract.
“During the past four months, we have engaged in a positive and highly productive dialogue that has culminated in the creation of an agreement that honors the hard work and dedication of our teaching staff; will enable us to support and advance the mission, values and vision of our district; aligns with our collective commitment to fiscal stewardship; and, most importantly, will contribute to the continued growth, development and success of our students both in and out of the classroom,” the release states.
The HHSTA is scheduled to discuss and vote on the ratification of the tentative agreement during the next few weeks. If the association ratifies it, the agreement will be presented to the board for a vote. The earliest that vote would occur is likely during one of the March board meetings.
The last contract, approved in January 2021, provided an average annual increase, including benefits, of 1.89 percent a year.
Salaries in the second year of the contract (this school year) ranged from $41,234 for a teacher with a bachelor’s degree and no experience to $139, 217 for an experienced teacher with a master’s degree and 60 hours of education.
