Betty Belle Myers, 93, of Burr Ridge, formerly of Hinsdale, passed away peacefully Jan. 29, 2023.
Betty was born in 1929 in Fresno, Calif., to Joseph and Isabelle "Belle" Cartwright. She was the second eldest of four children and loved her three brothers, Robert "Bob," Gilbert "Gil" and Stanley "Stan."
On Nov. 8, 1950 Betty married Richard "Dick" Eugene Myers, a love affair that lasted nearly 69 years and one that traversed the United States with multiple relocations for Dick's career with Nalco Chemical Co. As the relocation miles accumulated so did the accumulation of lifelong friends that they maintained over the years. Their friends became family.
In 2019, Dick preceded Betty in death. They raised one son, John. Betty's passion and love for her family was always her highest priority and brought her incredible joy. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and community volunteer.
She was known for her high energy, social skills, consistently positive attitude and athletic prowess (golf, tennis, ping pong, bags - if there was a game to play, she wanted in!)
She loved the outdoors, sports, travel and especially her time with family and friends.
Her legendary sky-blue eyes were captivating to all who met her and were reflective of the beauty in the world that she saw.
Betty was preceded in death by her older brothers, Bob and Gil.
She is survived by her brother, Stan; her son, John (Christine); her grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Allison (Blake), Michelle (Kyler), Cameron (Kent), Molly (Brad) and Tim (Lucy); and her 10 great-grandchildren, Beckett, Lyndie, Briggs, Brinley, Caden, Maren, Callan, Henrietta, Archer and Nora.
Services will be private.
