Judy Jeanne Klusendorf, nee Engstrom, 83, passed away after a long struggle Feb. 16, 2023, in senior living at The Collier at Naples, Fla.
Judy was born in LaPorte, Ind., to Charles and Doris (Dunham) Engstrom. She graduated from Lyons Township High School in La Grange in 1957 and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in 1961 with a bachelor's degree in education. She was a primary school teacher for many years and finished her career in 1990 teaching at the parent-child program at Hinsdale United Methodist Church in Hinsdale.
She moved to Naples full time in 2002 to Foxfire Country Club, where she made many friends over the years and enjoyed the Naples outdoor lifestyle, golfing several times a week with various groups. Outgoing and social, she enjoyed hosting Super Bowl parties as well as attending club functions.
In addition to golf, she enjoyed reading her Kindle, variety puzzle books, Rummikub, watching Tiger Woods and others on the weekend golfing tournaments and her many years with her beloved shelties, one of whom she trained to be a therapy dog. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren, in Naples and in Michigan, playing cards and games as well as spending lots of time in the pool. She stayed in touch with them in their college years and their first jobs, always interested in their education, endeavors and friendships.
Judy will be missed greatly by her children, grandchildren and her husband, Jim, to whom she was devoted in their partnership of laughter, socializing, travel and golf.
Judy is survived by her spouse of 60 years, James Klusendorf; her son, Brian (Bean) Klusendorf; her daughter, Susan (Jonathan) Tuttle; and her grandchildren, Jeffery, Christopher and Annie Klusendorf.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Klusendorf; and her brother, James Engstrom.
