Chris Covino, assistant superintendent for academics in Hinsdale High School District 86, has accepted a position as the new superintendent in La Grange Elementary District 102. His final day will be June 30.
“Not only is this a culminating next step in my lifelong career as an educator, it is also a chance to work with and promote the growth and development of students at the K-8 level,” Covino said.
He noted that before he leaves, he and his colleagues will continue work on aligning district curriculum and grading practices, developing the Portrait of a Graduate profile and exploring scheduling options to improve instruction.
He thanked students, faculty, staff and families for their support over the past three years.
“I am incredibly proud of everything we accomplished together during my time here and am truly grateful for the ways in which you have inspired, challenged and motivated me to be a better administrator and leader,” he said.
Superintendent Tammy Prentiss congratulated Covino and thanked him for his hard work and dedication, calling him an outstanding educator and exemplary leader.”
The search for Covino’s replacement will begin immediately, Prentiss said.
