Brian Patrick McCarthy, 53, of Batavia, died peacefully in his sleep of complications from heart failure on March 20, 2023.
Brian was born at Westlake Hospital, Melrose Park, Illinois to Vern McCarthy Jr. and Gaylen Broyles McCarthy, formerly of Oak Brook. Brian grew up in Oak Brook and was an avid aviation enthusiast. He took and taught flying lessons at American Flyers and Embry-Riddle University where he made lifelong friends. Brian graduated from Lewis University with a degree in aviation.
In 2003, Brian moved to Geneva, Illinois where he was deputy director for former Congressman Peter Roskam. Brian was known for his sense of humor and kindness to strangers. He was the guy that would stop and help anyone on the side of the road. His daughters would always tease him for that, but he truly loved helping people.
Amazingly, Brian had a life-saving double lung transplant in 2010, which gave him many more years with his loving young daughters, family and friends.
Brian is survived by his children Samantha and Sydney, brother Kenton McCarthy, sister Leslie Miller, nephews Brett, Blake and Matthew Miller, his dear dog Earl and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Vern McCarthy Jr. and mother, Gaylen Broyles McCarthy.
Brian will forever be remembered by his family and many close friends.
Services for Brian will be held privately. Arrangements handled by Malone Funeral Home, Geneva.
