Joan Marie Blaeser Westerdahl, 97, formerly of Elmhurst, died Nov. 12, 2022.
She was born in Beverly in 1925 to Anthony and Georgianna Blaeser.
She met her future husband, "Bro," during their Knox College years. Joan passed away peacefully on what would have been Bro's 100th birthday.
She spent the last 10 years residing at Plymouth Place in LaGrange Park. She was a member of Ruth Lake Country Club for 65 years. An avid sports fan for all Chicago teams, she was treasured by friends and family for her friendship, wit and wisdom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward "Bro" Westerdahl Sr .; her brothers, Robert (the late Elane) Blaeser and Tony (the late Rosemary) Blaeser; her sister, Sister Georgie Blaeser; and her brother-in-law, Wendell (the late Shirley) Westerdahl.
She is survived by her children, Bonnie (Jack) Sartore of Hinsdale, Edward (Karen) and Georgianna; her grandchildren, Patrick (the late Beth), Katy (Rocco) Casamassimo, Ben and Niki Lueck, Stacey and Will Lueck and Cassie and Nick Sajeske; her great-grandchildren, Adam and Mia Sartore, Francesca and Sienna Casamassimo, Gage, Ronan, Tessa, Fisher and Walker Lueck; her brothers, James (the late Ellen) Blaeser and Jay Westerdahl; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday, June 19, at St Francis Xavier Church, 124 N. Spring Ave., La Grange. A Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at the church.
