Ann Marie Karstens, nee Cronin, 94, of Hinsdale passed away peacefully May 23, 2023.
She was born in 1929 in Chicago to Arnold Cronin and Elizabeth Weise. She attended Amundsen High School before graduating from Wright Junior College and attending Northwestern night school. She went on to work for Joseph & Feiss Co. and was the first woman to receive the Cricketeer Salesman of the Year Award in 1985.
Ann will be forever remembered for her fierce independence, unconditional love and indefatigable humor. She was a true force and created a beautiful life against all odds. She was a pillar in her community of family and friends and will be deeply missed by those fortunate enough to know and love her.
Her family will always celebrate her by pouring a glass of Piper-Heidsieck with a fresh raspberry, or as she would call it, "nectar of the gods!"
Ann, lovingly known as Mumma to her family and friends, was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberli Petersen; and her son-in-law, William Snyder.
She is survived by her daughters, Kyle (Richard Kateley) Snyder and Kelly (Darryl) Awick; her son-in-law, Jeff Petersen; her grandchildren, Courtney (Aaron) Gale, Stephanie (Joseph) Pesa, Elizabeth (John) Salerno and Conor Awick (fiancé Laura Sue Jensen); and her eight great-grandchildren.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
