Rick Jager, 54, of Eau Claire, Mich., formerly of Grand Haven, Mich., passed away unexpectedly June 15, 2023.
He was born in 1969 in Grand Haven to Richard and Diana (De Gram) Jager. Rick graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1988 and also took three years of welding and house construction at the Careerline Tech Center.
Rick loved being outdoors and all his jobs were outside, working with his hands. For many years he did cement flatwork in Michigan. Nine years ago he moved to Florida and did marine construction, building docks, sea walls and decks for those in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area. Many of those years in marine construction he worked with his brother Delbie, side by side. Rick just moved back to Michigan six weeks ago and was working on an island in Eau Claire helping to restore an old mansion and estate. There wasn't much Rick couldn't fix or create. He was a man of many talents.
Rick was always happy and loved life and lived it to the fullest. All who met Rick loved him. He was so proud of both of his children and their accomplishments. He had a great sense of humor and always had everyone laughing. His absence will be very noticeable.
Rick is survived by his children, Cameron Richard Jager and Mackenzie Jeanette Jager; his parents, Richard and Diana Jager; his sister, Amy (Thomas) Jager-Prame of Hinsdale; his brother, Delbie (Barbara Hernando) Jager; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rick was proceeded in death by both grandparents, Delbie and Ardel De Gram and the Rev. Richard and Marie Jager.
A celebration of life will be held at at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 25, at 1940 Bass Island Park Drive, Eau Claire, Mich. This is where Rick lived and worked on Pipestone Lake for the last six weeks, and he loved it there.
