People who live or work in Hinsdale can apply to take part in the 11-week Citizen Police Academy.
The academy is a free program designed to provide a better understanding of law enforcement and the Hinsdale Police Department. Each week provides and in-depth view of different topics, including specialties and departments within the police department. The course also provides participants with an understanding of modern police procedures and an inside look at the challenges officers face while serving the community.
The two- to three-hour classes will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Sept. 13 at the police department, 121 Symonds Drive. Class will not be held Nov. 22.
Individuals must be 18 or older to apply, and class size is limited.
