Douglas Jude Dussman

Douglas Jude Dussman, 45, of Hinsdale died Aug. 9, 2023, at Edward-Elmhurst Hospital.

He was stung by multiple bees in Oak Brook on Aug. 3 and suffered anaphylactic shock and cardiac arrest. Heroic action by emergency medical technicians, police and fire personnel restored his heartbeat, but he passed away after six days in intensive care.

He was a 1995 graduate of Hinsdale Central High School, where he was co-captain of the wrestling team. He caddied at Butler National Golf Club for many years.

Doug was a storyteller who appreciated the stories of people, places and events in Hinsdale. He always had time for the elderly and for children and liked to hear their stories, accepting them at face value.

Everyone who knew him will remember "little Doug" aphorisms or stories that will continue to pop up.

He was proud of being a Hinsdalean and envious that his great uncle, Jack Urhausen, was a native Hinsdalean.

He is survived by his daughters, Arianna, Emma and Lillian; his son, Douglas Robert; his grandchildren, Meilanna, Noemi and A.J .; his mother, Judith; his brothers, John and Luke; his sister, Katherine; his nieces, Genevieve "Eve" Rose and Josephine; and his nephews, Tommy, Raymond and Graeme.

A celebration of life will be held in September.
