Nancy L. Voss Humay

Nancy L. Voss Humay, nee Conti, 76, a longtime resident of Hinsdale, passed away peacefully in her home Sept. 7, 2023.

Nancy’s lifelong love of art began with chalk drawings on the sidewalk outside her childhood home in Riverside. She attended St. Mary School and Riverside-Brookfield High School. She received dual bachelor’s degrees in art history and psychology from Culver-Stockton College and a teaching certificate from Lewis University. Nancy’s successful career began as an art teacher before dedicating over 30 years to the art industry. She was named top salesperson and gallery director at several respected art galleries and ultimately became the owner of Zygman Voss Gallery in Chicago. She enjoyed mentoring up-and-coming artists over the course of her career. Upon retirement, Nancy found joy in once again being an art student, taking watercolor classes and creating beautiful pieces, some of which she showed at a local art show.

Beyond all her career successes, Nancy’s greatest love was for her family and the many meaningful friendships she developed throughout her life. Her deep devotion to her Catholic faith was a source of strength and peace. She found great joy in spending winters in Punta Gorda, Fla., attending opera, symphony, Shakespeare Theatre performances, cheering on the Chicago Blackhawks, playing tennis, her many travels over the years with her friends and being the No. 1 fan for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, James Humay; her daughter, Jenna (Kenny) Julian; her first husband, Eugene Voss; her stepchildren, Meg Humay, Jim (Geri Mulso) Humay and Joe Humay; her grandchildren, Elisa, William and Lia Julian; her step-grandchildren, Nina, Yulia and Maximus Ahlheim, Alex Humay and Cannon, Cason and Tessa Humay; her brother, Alex (Sandra) Conti; her nephews, Anthony and AJ; and her goddaughter, Sheila Fischer.

She was preceded in death by her father, Anthony J. Conti.
