Rita Kay West, nee Blackmore, 76, a longtime Hinsdale resident, died Aug. 31, 2023.
The proud product of Troy, Ohio, and Midwestern values, Rita was selfless and loving and had many enduring friends. She was a tireless volunteer and caregiver across many causes and organizations, including local schools, The Cradle adoption center in Evanston, the Hines VA Hospital and Hinsdale United Methodist Church Preschool.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin (Candice) West and Dave (Heather) West; her husband, Paul Joseph West, M.D .; her grandchildren, Elle, Conor, Ava, James, Quinn and Patrick West; her siblings, Larry (Sharon) Blackmore, Jane Hum and David (Ruth Ann) Blackmore; and her nieces and nephews, Meredith Blackmore Griga, Jared, Brad, Brian and Tom Blackmore, Stephanie Lake and Laura Hum, and Bridget Lessner, Liz LaRue, Tim Lessner and Thom Lessner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Robert Blackmore; and her siblings, Stephen and Ann Blackmore.
Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at Sullivan Funeral Home, 60 S. Grant St., Hinsdale.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at St. Isaac Jogues Church, 306 W. Fourth St., Hinsdale.
Interment is at St. John's Cemetery in Oak Brook.
