Kathleen Kavanagh Chapman, 81, of Hinsdale passed away on Sept. 18, 2023.
Born to Lota and Thomas Kavanagh in 1941, Kathleen was a life-long Chicagoan and a pioneer in computer science. Following her education at Saint Scholastica Academy and Marquette University, She worked for many years with Deltak.
She also worked as a consultant for many companies and co-authored several seminal books about LAN technology. As an advocate for women in STEM, she supported and encouraged many female friends and relatives in pursuing their careers.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, John Chapman; her sister, Jean Moore; her nephews, Tom (Heidi) Moore, Joshua (Jo) Moore and Matthew (Diane) Moore; her niece, Betsy Moore; and her sisters of the heart, Karen Fisher and Barbara (Ron) Damerjian, and their children and grandchildren.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Sullivan Funeral Home, 60 S. Grant St., Hinsdale, with a service at 5:30 p.m.
