Joann Eleanor Johnson, 92, of Burr Ridge, a former longtime Hinsdale resident, passed away peacefully Oct. 17, 2023, days short of her 93rd birthday.
She was born in 1930 in Berwyn to Emil and Eleanor (Hane) Johnson.
Joann attended Morton High School in Berwyn and Augustana College in Rock Island, where she met John.
During her life, Joann was an avid homemaker, hostess and gardener and a loving wife, mother and grandma. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her gentle kindness, delightful sense of humor and devoted interest in her family, especially her grandchildren, whose lives she continued to follow closely until her passing.
Joann was preceded in death in February 2022 by her husband of 68 years, John Eric Johnson; in December 2017 by her daughter, Beth Jo Johnson; and in October 2021 by her sister, Elaine Pok. She is survived by her two sons, Blair (Lisa) and Eric; her grandchildren, Kara (Dylan) Psotka, Evan, Hillary, Nathaniel and Grace Johnson; her niece, Jan (Mark) Knouff; and her two nephews, Scott (Pam) Pok and Jack (Karen) Pok.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at Christ Church of Oak Brook, 501 Oak Brook Road.
