Janice M. Kaminski, née Husch, 93, of LaGrange Park, formerly of Golfview Hills, died Nov. 3, 2023.
Jan was raised in Willow Springs. She attended Trinity High School and Marquette University. She was a talented writer and especially loved poetry. She was the longtime editor of the “Village Vagaries” poetry column in The Hinsdale Doings newspaper. She was witty and had a wonderful sense of humor and even sold jokes in the ’70s to Phyllis Diller and Joan Rivers.
She and Don raised their family in the Golfview Hills neighborhood, where she was an active member of the Women’s Club, Writers’ Group and Readers’ Group. She loved all types of games and puzzles and was a lifelong Cubs fan who always enjoyed the ride no matter the outcome — a philosophy by which she lived.
She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (Gregory Menard), Andrew (Shawn), Lawrence (Kathryn Hensinger) and Neal (Jennifer) Kaminski; her grandchildren, Claire, Jack, Miles, Olivia and Louis Kaminski and Leo and Carly Mack; and many nieces and nephews.
Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her only daughter, Laura; and her brother, Donald (Eileen) Husch.
