Patricia DeForest Hindman of Hinsdale and Key Largo, Fla., passed away Nov. 24, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love and unforgettable memories.
Pat was raised in Boonville, Ind., the only child of Raymunda Autry and Joseph W. DeForest. She developed a profound love of nature and the outdoors when her family moved to Bremerton, Wash., where she spent countless hours hiking and camping around Mt. Rainer and the northwest coast with her beloved father.
She attended high school in Indianapolis and went on to Indiana University, where she met her husband, Don J. Hindman. The couple moved to Chicago and settled in Hinsdale in 1954, where they built a wonderful life and raised four children.
She served as first vice president of the board of The Woman's Athletic Club of Chicago, and she was a member of the Junior League of Chicago, The Antiquarian Society, The Alliance Francaise, the Women's Board of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Delta Gamma.
Pat was an elegant woman who demonstrated unwavering kindness to everyone she encountered. She enjoyed entertaining and built a lifetime of memories with Don, her husband of 72 years.
She loved practical jokes and had a way of making even the most mundane moments sparkle with her unique blend of wit and warmth. May Patricia rest in peace, surrounded by the laughter and love she so generously shared with all.
She is survived by her husband, Don J. Hindman; her children, Jeff (Gina) Hindman Sr., Leslie Hindman, Sally (Dan) Hindman Sawislak and Donald (Maron) Hindman; her grandchildren, Jeff (Nicole) Hindman Jr., Lacey (Mike) Hindman Bailey, Kirsten, Austin, Charlie, Hadley, Duke and Trudy Hindman and Sylvia Sawislak; and her four great-grandchildren.
A family celebration of life will take place in Florida.
