Community Consolidated District 181 Board
Among other business Dec. 18, board members
• held a public hearing on and adopted the 2023 property tax levy of $76.7 million for operating funds. The board plans to abate about $2 million of that total and will finalize that number in February.
• listened to a report on Illinois Assessment of Readiness and Illinois Science Assessment results that showed D181 students significantly outperformed the state average in reading, math and science and demonstrated growth exceeding the state average percentile in all three subjects
• learned bids for summer construction projects will be on the agenda for approval at the board’s Jan. 22 meeting. The original estimate of $2.5 million for the various projects has been lowered to $2.2 million.
• amended the 2024-25 draft calendar to make Nov. 5, Election Day, a non-attendance day. As a result, the first day of student attendance will be Aug. 20.
• approved the 2025-26 draft calendar, which lists the first day of school on Aug. 20, Thanksgiving break Nov. 26-28, winter break Dec. 22 to Jan. 2, spring break March 30 to April 3 and the final day of school and graduation June 2. Both calendars align with Hinsdale High School District 86 breaks.
