Billy "Bun" Robertson, 66, of Hinsdale passed away May 10, 2024, at his home.
He was born in Chicago in 1957. Those who lived in Hinsdale in the 1960s to 1980s probably knew Billy "Bun" in some way. Growing up, from the age of 2 on, across from Burns Field was such a gift to him. It allowed him to run across the street every day after school and play football, ice hockey or baseball. He helped start the Burns Field Turkey Bowl, which he participated in for more than 40 years. All the free time out on the ice in winter helped him hone his skills at ice hockey, allowing him to be a charter member of the Hinsdale Central Ice Hockey Team - a team that is still going strong to this day.
From high school he became his fraternity's president, Delta Sigma Fi out of Western Illinois University. In his adult life he was a commodities trader at the Chicago Board of Trade, a position that earned him a permanent seat at Ceres. He continued to live in the Hinsdale-Clarendon Hills area up until his death. In recent years his health took its toll on him, culminating is a peaceful passing.
He is survived by his mother, Sarah; his sister, Deb; and his niece and nephew, Catherine and Andrew.
Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 7000 S Madison St, Willowbrook. A service of remembrance will take place at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to DuPage Animal Friends (humane society), a favored animal rescue group or a favored addiction recovery group.
