Nancy Cracknell Clough

Nancy Cracknell Clough, 81, a former 40-year resident of Clarendon Hills, passed away April 30, 2024.

She was born in 1943 in Kenore, N.Y., to Cyril and Ann Cracknell.

At the heart of Nancy's world were her cherished relationships. She shared a remarkable bond with her late husband, Fred, that was nothing short of extraordinary. Together, they painted a canvas of love and companionship that inspired all who knew them.

As a devoted mother to Casey (Mark) Downer and Kelly (David) Trudgen, Nancy poured her heart into nurturing and guiding her children, instilling in them values of kindness, resilience and joy.

Her role as a grandmother brought her immeasurable joy. She delighted in the presence of Cole Trudgen, Dominic Downer, Kate Trudgen and Helena Downer, finding endless delight in their laughter and innocence.

Nancy's life was adorned with creativity and passion. As an interior designer, she infused beauty and elegance into every space she touched. Her love for art and fine cuisine enriched her life, and she approached every meal and canvas with an artist's eye and a connoisseur's palate. A lifelong learner, Nancy embraced every opportunity to expand her horizons, seizing knowledge with a thirst that knew no bounds.

She found joy spending time on the lake and taking long walks on the beach, using the time to reconnect with the world around her and finding peace in its embrace.

Avid reader, skilled water skier and fashion enthusiast, Nancy was a woman of diverse interests and talents. Her big, bold personality left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her impeccable sense of style ensured she always dressed to impress.

But perhaps Nancy's greatest legacy lies in her commitment to giving back to her community. A dedicated volunteer, she lent her time and talents to various causes, including serving on the Resident Advisory Committee for Fox Run, where her insight and compassion touched the lives of many.

Nancy passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who loved her, but her spirit will live on in the memories she created and the love she shared.

Keehn-Griffin Funeral Home in Brighton, Mich., handled the arrangements.
