Community Service

Seven Hinsdale Central High School students have been recognized by the United Nations Association of the USA and InnerView in the seventh annual Community Service Impact Awards. This program has been designed to connect student community service activities, skill development and commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals to transform our world.

The Sustainable Development Goals provide a framework for addressing the world’s most pressing challenges. They also present a unique opportunity for UN member states, grassroots organizations and advocates to work together to create a better future for everyone.

The three-tier award program recognizes a range of student achievement: Merit for 30 hours, Honor for 60 hours, and Ambassador for 100 hours of service this school year and special recognition for a focus on Zero Hunger and Zero Waste.

QUIZ BOWL TEAM

MAKES NATIONALS

A team from Hinsdale Central High School joined the top high school quiz bowl teams at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis for the 2024 High School National Championship Tournament the weekend of May 25, placing 97 out of 320 teams.

The team was captained by Jonathan DeToro, who was joined by Abigail AuYeung, Charlie Doehring and Zaynab Guezzar. The team was coached by Alan McCloud and Mark Wollschlaeger.

Hinsdale Central finished the preliminary rounds with a 6-4 record, which qualified the team for the playoffs.

Central suffered a heartbreakingly narrow loss to Johns Creek B from Georgia during round 16 and another narrow loss to Montgomery Blair B from Silver Spring, Md.,during round 21, losing their shot at the title.
